About the Jacksonville Jaguars

Welcome fellow Jaguars fan!

As you know, finding great Jaguars Tickets probably the hardest part of being a Jaguars supporter, but here you will find information on how to obtain 'hard to get' and 'sold out' tickets.

Previous Seasons

Your Jacksonville Jaguars are scrambling for quarterbacks. After starter Luke McCown went down for the season with an ACL tear, and with backup David Garrard struggling, the team signed Todd Bauman (even after missing a year of ball) and as soon as Trent Edwards was released by the Bills, the Jags snagged him off of the waiver wire.

The 2010 draft netted a number of good players. The top three draft selections were DT Tyson Alualu (10 overall selection), DT D’Anthony Smith (74th overall selection) and OL Larry Hart (143rd overall selection).

Come on out and cheer your Jags on to victory as they attempt to get back to the NFL Playoffs elusive since 2007.

In an effort to shake all of the 08 season from the franchise, Team owner Wayne Weaver changed up the teams uniforms and brought back an old face in the form of TE  Ernest Wilford who played for Jacksonville from 2004-2007.

In the draft, the Jaguars picked up nine players.  With their first and second picks (8th and 39th overall respectively) they picked two offensive tackles.  They would use seven out of the nine draft choices on the offensive side of the ball.

So far in the preseason, the Jags are 0-2 with 32 points scored and 36 points against.

Looking to improve on a successful 11-5 record, the Jaguars added some key components to the offense including WR’s Troy Williamson from Minnesota, Jerry Porter from Oakland.  The team also picked up QB Cleo Lemon fro Miami.

Five days before the start of the regular season, OT Richard Collier was shot outside of an apartment building in Jacksonville.  He and former teammate Kenny Pettway were waiting for Collier’s girlfriend when he was shot 14 times severely wounding him, severing his spinal cord, and left him a paraplegic.  The team would never recover from this shock.

With the mental status of the team in question, the once strong Jaguars managed fairly well, going .500 by the week 7 bye but in the next 10 games they would only win twice and finished the season 5-11 good enough for 4th place in the AFC South.  The team did not qualify for the playoffs nor send any players to the Pro-Bowl.

Looking to improve upon their 8-8 2006 season, Head Coach Jack Del Rio pushed his team in an effort o return to the playoffs not seen since 2005.  He went through a series of coaching changes and let go Offensive Coordinator Carl Smith, Special Teams Coordinator Pete Rodriguez, QB coach Ken Anderson and WR coach Steve Walters.  Players also took a hit as coach Del Rio released or traded 19 players and added depth via free agency where the team added 14 players to the roster.

In the draft, the Jags used their number 1 pick (21st overall) on Florida FS Reggie Nelson and added four offensive and seven defensive players.

During the season, the Jags would jell and would lose only five games going 11-5, taking 2nd place in the AFC South.  In the Playoffs, their Wild Card match up was against the Pittsburgh Steelers who they nudged 31-29 and moved on to play the New England Patriots in the Divisional Playoffs.  Against the Patriots, the Jaguars kept up in the first half but the Patriots would score 11 more points than the Jags in the third quarter and both added field goals in the 4th.  The Jaguars lost 31-20.

The Jacksonville Jaguars came into existence in 1995, the same year as the Carolina Panthers. The first year, as expected, was very rough, but new coach Tom Coughlin helped turn the team around and make them winners almost immediately. The Jaguars ended up making the playoffs four years in a row during their run with the last two coming as AFC Central champions. Unfortunately for the city of Jacksonville and the players involved, all four trips to the playoffs finished with losses in the first game, and after the 1999 season (an amazing 14-2 record and #1 seed in the playoffs), the next three seasons saw the team finish 10 games under .500 marking the end of the Tom Coughlin era in Jacksonville. Even after struggling through the last few seasons with a roster no where near as competitive as his first few seasons, Coughlin finished with a 68-60 record in his 8 seasons as head coach of the Jaguars, and in 2004, he was hired as head man of the New York Giants. Jack Del Rio, a former defensive player in the NFL, stepped in to replace Coughlin in Jacksonville, and in his first year as leader of the Jaguars, he compiled a 5-11 record, right about what ownership expected from a weaker team with a first year head coach. Del Rio was also trying his best to institute his own personal system into a team that had worked the same way for almost a decade. In 2004, the Jaguars took a step forward finishing with a 9-7 record and just missing out on the playoffs. This season, the team will use a more complex offense which should keep opposing defenses one step behind while the Jaguars look to get back to the postseason.

In 2003, Byron Leftwich established himself as the quarterback of the future for the Jacksonville Jaguars and in 2004, Leftwich followed it up with a solid season. Leftwich finished the season with nearly 3,000 yards and showed that he can lead the team quite well. Fred Taylor is one of the best running backs in the league when he can avoid the injuries that have plagued him over the course of his young career but the last two seasons have been good ones for Taylor. Last season, Taylor eclipsed the 1,200 yard mark but only found the end zone twice all season. Jimmy Smith is still easily the best receiver the Jaguars have had in their history but this season, he’ll need help from the team’s younger receivers like Reggie Williams, Ernest Wilford, and 2005 first round draft pick Matt Jones. Jones played quarterback in college at the University of Arkansas but possesses a rare mix of speed and size. If Jones can improve his route running ability, he could help lead the Jags receivers this season.

In the off-season following the 2004 campaign, the Jaguars put their “franchise player” tag on safety Donovan Darius for the third consecutive season. Darius was likely to opt out of his contract after another incredibly productive season, but the Jaguars are likely to build their defense and team around the talented safety. Mike Peterson led the 2004 squad in tackles with 126 and also led the team in tackles for loss with 6.5. Greg Favors and John Henderson led six Jaguars players that had at least three sacks with their total of 5.5 while Donovan Darius and Rashean Mathis tied for the team lead with five interceptions. Mathis was also tied for second in the league with his 22 passes defensed which trailed only Al Harris of the Green Bay Packers.
